This morning, we woke up under very cloudy skies, the ocean is looking a bit menacing but the ship is big and stable and we just feel the movement. After these first few days we have gotten our sea legs, or at least we hope so. At around 10am, after 72 hours of looking at a limitless ocean, we saw Shag Rocks, the first indication that South Georgia is near. Albatrosses and whales followed the ship around Shag Rocks. The Albatross' wing span can reach 2 feet and it is very impressive to watch this birds swoop down toward the ship's bridge.
Stamattina ci siamo svegliati sotto un cielo molto nuvoloso, il mare ha assunto un aspetto piu' minaccioso ma la nave e' grande e stabile e ci accorgiamo appena del movimento delle onde - o forse dopo qualche giorno ci siamo tutti abituati - speriamo! Stamattina, dopo aver osservato solo l'oceano per oltre 72 ore, abbiamo avvistato Shag Rocks, un gruppo di isolotti disabitati che indicano la prossimita' di South Georgia. Albratross e balene hanno seguito la nave vicino Shag Rocks. L'aperture lare degli albatross raggiunge fino a 4 metri, e' uno spettacolo molto bello vederli virare verso il ponte della nave.
